a monthly circle for children who identify as girls
I see the moon and the moon sees me.
Fairy Moon is a monthly circle for girls to deepen their connection to themselves and the natural world.
At each monthly gathering, we will:
explore the month's lunar theme through artistic activities, crafts, and thoughtful reflections
deepen our sense of wonder and connection to the rhythms and beauty of the natural world
foster a sense of kinship with one another, the Earth, and other non-human beings
There will be time for free, imaginative play and exploration.
Fairy Moon is held at my home - called the Red Nest - in the neighbourhood of Renfrew in Calgary.
There is a maximum of six children in Fairy Moon.
Here are some things we might get up to:
deepening our understanding of the moon
creating moon-inspired art
making mandalas from natural materials
co-creating a labyrinth to walk together
going for nature walks in the neighbourhood
identifying the plants & trees in our neighbourhoods & giving them magical names too!
flower bathing, i.e. lying under a tree full of spring blossoms
making natural products from plants
sharing, singing & storytelling
resting with a short guided meditation
Fairy Moon is for children who…
are 7 to 10 years old.
identify as girls.
appreciate being in nature to explore and wonder.
feel a connection to the Earth and non-human beings - like the moon and fairies!
love creating art & crafting.
are able to regulate in a developmentally appropriate way.
Please note that this is not a sports camp or high-intensity activity gathering.
It is important to me that Fairy Moon is a satisfying and enriching experience for the children attending.

Meet Shelagh,
Fairy Moon Guide & Mentor
I have been an educator for over twenty five years, working with adults, youth, and children.
I’m a rest guide, professional aromatherapist, Daring to Rest yoga nidra facilitator & teacher-trainer, Veriditas trained labyrinth facilitator, and a ritual artisan.
Some people call me a fairy godmother.
I currently offer an after-school program for children aged 5 to 9 years called The Red Nest and facilitate magical fairy camps. I hold a Child Development Worker certificate from Children Services Alberta.
I love seeing girls shine, thrive, and have space to explore, create, wonder, and be themselves. I am currently enrolled in Mentoring Girls Certificate Training with Journey of Young Women.
Fairy Moon is the circle that I wish I had when I was a girl. It is such an honor that I get to create this now.

Circle Location
My home and garden in the inner city community of Renfrew in Calgary.
We will also be visiting a neighbourhood park that is two blocks from my home.
Circle Fees
$255
A small afternoon snack is included in the fees, as well as all of the art supplies.
Once you have paid for your spot, I will send you a registration form and the Fairy Moon Handbook. Once you’ve filled out the registration form, I will send your child some special mail!
Refund Policy
There is no credit or refund for missed circles or absences. No credit or refund after the circle has begun.
Before Fairy Moon begins, 3 weeks notice is necessary to cancel and receive a refund minus $25 admin fee. Under 3 weeks notice, you will not receive a refund unless I can find another child to fill the spot.

Thank you so much Shelagh for bringing the fae magic into our lives! My daughter enjoyed this Winter Fairy camp so much she can't wait to return in the summer. She was absolutely enchanted by the letters from the fairies, the crafts and building the fairy homes. She came home excited to teach me all of the fairy yoga poses she learned. My daughter, 5 years old, adored winter fairy camp. She came home each day and kept right on going in fairy mode with craft ideas and make-believe play flowing freely. My daughter had the most wonderful time at Fairy camp! She loved going every single day and didn’t want it to end. There was so much magic and wonder that her little imagination just exploded. I would highly recommend this camp to anyone with a child who loves to use her imagination and creativity. The crafts were all so thoughtful and beautiful. They aren’t the typical crafts that come home from camps. We will have them for a very long time.
